FAQ

The questions people actually ask.

Short, honest answers. The source preview is about to open. If your question is not here, email hello@cutgraph.app.

Good question, actually.

Yes. The v0.1 developer preview is free, and because it runs on your machine there are no minute limits on transcription or export. The optional co-pilot uses your own Anthropic API key, so Anthropic bills you for that directly.

Fair Source: the source preview is about to open under FSL-1.1-ALv2. You can use, modify and redistribute it for permitted purposes, including client work, but not to offer a competing commercial product. Each version becomes Apache-2.0 two years after its release.

No. Media, transcripts, projects, exports and logs stay in a local folder, and Studio only accepts connections from your own computer. It has no telemetry. The co-pilot, model downloads and stock search are the only things that can reach the network, and only when you use them.

Your request plus the relevant transcript or document text, sent to Anthropic with your own key. Never raw video or audio. Everything it suggests arrives as a proposal; nothing changes until you accept it.

No. Editing, preview and export all work on the CPU. An NVIDIA GPU speeds up export (NVENC) and transcription (CUDA).

Not yet. Windows 11 is the tested platform and Linux is best-effort. macOS isn't supported in v0.1.

English only, for now. Narration alignment relies on transcription too, so it is English-only as well.

Yes. Start from a pasted script and the timing is estimated until you record narration. Transcription is an optional pack you add when you want to edit footage by its words.

The developer preview is about to open, with a source install using Python, Node and ffmpeg. Join the waitlist on the Pricing page; Get started previews the requirements and install steps. An installer is not the supported path yet.

The sample character: a pixel-art camera with eleven expressions, nine poses and nine moves, drawn live by the same engine that renders your export. You can add your own characters from uploaded art too.

No. Cutgraph edits and animates your own material. It doesn't generate photoreal footage.

Not today. Each installation is a single user on a single machine by design. Sync and collaboration would be part of a possible future Cloud plan.

Same core idea; we didn't invent it. Cutgraph runs entirely on your machine, is source-available, has a built-in motion engine with a character cast, and its co-pilot only proposes. Descript and Premiere are far ahead on polish, collaboration and pro finishing.

Issues and discussions will open with the source preview. Join the waitlist on the Pricing page for the announcement. Code pull requests are paused until the contributor agreement is finalised.
